THE MONZELS : LIMA

Not much info can be dug up on The Monzels. BuckeyeBeat, com thinks they were from Lima, so until someone can prove otherwise....let's go with it. What is known, is that their lone release on the small PRISM label has a smokin' surf cut with hints of Link Wray influence (at least to my ears!).

I was at The Villa on N. Main Street in Lima when the Monzels played..They were introduced as being from Cleveland..As I remember "Sharkskin" was available for purchase at the bar..For many years I had a copy..They played at that long gone venue in the mid sixties..

My name is J. Ward, I was the bass player with the Monzels. I need to correct the statement that our band was from Cleveland. We were from Kingston, New York. The individual with this website may contact me at Kdsandra@bellsouth.net. I can verify that we were associated with the Nino Barry Agency out of Philadelphia, Pa. I can show professional photos from that time.
The record was recorded in Dayton, Oh. I have photos of our band in the studio recording this record.
