THE BEAU DENTURIES : AKRON

Not alot of info can be had on this only release by The Beau Denturies. It came out on the Encore label. This would show up on a few comp. LPs later on. The band would morph into The Zoo and release some more 45s. More on them in a later post.

    Hello everyone!!
I am Garland: Founder, Leader, Lead Guitarist, and Lead Singer of the Beau Denturies and The Yellow Pages and The Zoo! Most people do not realize that these are all the
same band. We went through the name changes in 30 days as part of our record deal with Cameo Parkway. We are alive and still kicking. In 1991 there was a reunion concert in Tallmadge, Ohio.

I am impressed with the new succes of Straight Home. Fact: It was quickly written as filler for the B side of our first record. The first radio station to ever play it was KDKA-AM 1020 kHz Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The second was WAKR-AM 1590 kHz
    Akron,Ohio.

I would be happy to supply pictures and history in the future.

    Rock On,
    Garland (Spanly)

Hello - my name is Doug Barber, the keyboard player of the last phase of The Zoo. Most of the members of the Zoo don't know it yet but we will be releasing a CD within the next two years. Yes it is true. We are all still living and most are still playing in local bands. Might be time to get busy boys.

I'm one of the original Beau Denturies and was contacted this evening, after about 40 years, by the dude that started the band - Garland. What a hoot. It sounds like he's been able to contact all of us with the exception of our singer. Remembering how hard Garland worked to keep us lunatics together my guess is that he'll find him. There's not much 'give up' in Garland. Hope that he succeeds and that some or all of us get a chance to see each other again.

    Hi

I'm Bill, original drummer of the Beau Denturies. I remember winning the WAKR Battle of the Bands at the Akron Civic Theater. We played with Paul Revere and the Raiders, The Knickerbockers, The Viceroys, and Gary Lewis and the Playboys.

    Anybody remember the Hullabaloo?

What about The Barn in Kent?

I'm looking forward to this reunion!

My son, Jeff, has a band http://thestrangefamiliar.com is their site. They wrote a song called "Invisible" which Ashley Simpson purchased for her album and was featured in the movie, "The Brats".

His band also wrote "Courage Is..." which is a featured song on "The Secret Life Of The American Teenager" on ABC.

The Legend continues. If Peaches reads this, call me, I'm in the book.
