No sweat :-)

But if you happen upon any of my other recordings, let me know ASAP, please.

Some will be on BFM (you're right about it being "Bobby Farrell Music), and most on COZY ...

THANKS!

Bobby........

Thanks for the info! Must have been a blast back in the '70s near Cinci...lots of cool wax has come from that city over the years. I wish I was one of the "20" there at the Charlie Feathers show.

Another near miss hit from the great Lou Ukelson's label. I got to know Lou when i worked in the wholsale record biz back in Cincinnati in the 70's. Quite a character old Lou and always had many great record stories. This one I swear I don't remember but between Lou and Shad OShea and even Rusty York, there was always magic in the air. There just weren't many HITS . Lou recorded some nice sides with rockabilly pioneer Charlie Feathers and had him appearing at the Dollar Bills Saloon back in 77. Probably 20 people there that night including the band. Quite a night let me tell ya!

Here are some facts behind the recording "one way express" issued on Lee records. Ray Pennington was performing at Cincinnati nightclubs including 'The Hut' in Mt Carmel and 'Twilight Inn' roadhouse south of Oxford in the 1959-1961 era. Under the name Ray Starr, his r&r band was named the Starlighters. In the spring of 1960 his piano player, Dave Swigert, wrote a couple instrumentals for the band which Ray arranged a demo taping session for. ( I have the original acetate renderings). Satisfied with the results, Ray arranged for the recording session at King Records studio on Brewster avenue. 'One Way Express' was released on the Lee label as a B-side to another instrumental (from a seperate date and musicians). Here are the musicians at "one way express" session:

Dave Swigert- Piano
Terry Burnside- Saxaphone
Ebbie Hoard- Electric bass
Lonnie Rose- lead guitar
Ray Pennington- drums

“Dave C. & the Sharptones”

Dave C is in heaven now and we are here at Tradewinds. This is not the time for us to grieve his death but it’s our time to celebrate his life. Don’t ever forget Dave. He always was the entertainer. He wanted to make everyone happy. So soon when we are about to lay his body to rest, let’s all think back and remember how Dave touched our lives with music. How he made us laugh and how good Dave was as a person. This is not the moment for us to shed our tears but we should all be thankful that we were given the chance to have known a man named Dave C.

Dave will forever be missed but I know in the right time, I will meet him again. We will all meet Dave again and he’ll be there singing his favorite song "Diane" again.

Dave, your "green dot" is good to use again!
